Franz Fanon
I hate confessing to not having read books that I ought to have read by now in my career. One of those books that has always been on "the list" since I was an undergraduate was The Wretched of the Earth by Franz Fanon. Well. There is this great Canadian radio show that i get over the web here, called Ideas. Tonight they aired the first part of a two-part series on Fanon, that brilliant Martinique intellectual who had such a profound influence on french Phenomenological and Existentialist philosophers (such as Sartre, Hanah Arrendt and Simone de Bouvoir, etc.) and on liberation movements and their leaders such as Ho Chi Mihn and others from around the globe. Part two is next Wednesday @ http://www.cbc.ca/listen at 9:05 pm local time in whatever city you choose to listen to.
